| old guy who owns and runs a sinclair station that I get 93 octane from. In his case he doesnt make a ton off of the small vloume of gas he sells at his antiquated station. In fact he may even stop paying sinclair for the franchise rights and just buy the gas himself and sell it unlabelled. According to him, the larger more mainstream stations, make as much if not more money off of beer and junkfood and other "inside" items which are marked up drastically more. I'm not trying to lead a hand-holding all out gasoline-hunger-strike here. I think folks can start a price war between these companies if they simply buy the gas they are going to buy from someone other than the largest gas company in the country. Instead what we have now is these companies edging their prices up and up, seeing how far they can get away with, in the meantime the oil suppliers are watching it all happen and taking their cut of the pie by hiking barrel prices. A completely reverse phenomenon that is fueled/driven by consumer apathy.
